My tail seems to have a mesh on the inside of the grill, sort of like mosquito netting. I noticed yours doesn't...which one is normal?

PS: Looking good Pete.

Matt, yours is correct. Pete is, well, a special needs case.

#1: install screen
#2: those screws are tricky to start
#3: install brackets
#4: screens, brackets & clips
#5: top
#6: with seal, ready for the lid

It's now 104F on our covered patio, and 105F in the garage - "Take this job and shove it!"

You just caught me too early in the assembly process!

Hey Pete....
As many others have probably noticed on their cars, my tail has fewer parts than yours.
I know what I'm missing, but locating the parts has proven to be a bit lke finding hens' teeth.

Do you happen to have a part number list for the brackets, and support louvers, etc.?
I have the mesh grills/screens, but they are falling into the tail w/o the other parts.

Hi Dan: Check picture #2, post #18. You can see the two screws that fasten the center of the screen to the tail. Those are black, small diameter upholstery screws with upholstery washers, the screws are about 12mm long. Then look forward inside the tail, you will see two black brackets that appear to come up from the screen, then forward on the same plane as the screen. Those brackets are attached to the screen, and have open-ended slotted holes. The hardware is 6mm threaded screws (10mm wrench size) with captive flat washers, and they are about 12-13mm long. You must have the brackets that hold the tail to the lid, but without the above I can see how the screens can rattle around. If you need the brackets (picture #4, post #18) the only info that I have is that the middle 3 are the same, the left one is different, and the right one is also different. They're held together with 4mm screws (7mm wrench size) that are about 20mm long and use Nylok nuts. I will look through my info and see if I can find some numbers for you.

It's way too hot in my garage to go out there today (105F + a half hour ago), but if you need pics of the fasteners let me know, I'll take one each back out and try to photograph them.

A lot of time, effort, and money, but I think, because it came out to a high standard, that it is well worth it. It was a fun project, made even more so by Rennlister "genripper", who sold me a quality used part, and Brace's Auto Body in Culver City, CA, who did the flawless paintwork. Yes, I do like it (my wife prefers, as she calls it, the standard butt-look), but I'll probably slug the first person that comes up to me and says, "Geez, dude, is that a, like, Turbo?"

Maybe the best part is that the chin spoiler hides the A/C condenser protective bar!

I already have a pair of H-4 trim rings painted to match the car - now I gotta save some dimes & quarters for the lights! About Ventura, not sure what the Mrs. has planned but we just might do that...

MICHAEL: Good eyes!!
