SC PPI All Good
PPI completed yesterday brief results.
Motor wise compression test proved less then 4% leak down on all 6 cylinders.
Head studs all good all been changed in the recent past according to mechanic.
Slight oil leak from base of number 6 barrel and slight leak at chain tensioner housing right side. Not had carrera hyd upgrade but no biggy.
Gearbox slight synchro grate which I noticed on the test drive but not major.
Clutch is ok has been replaced with spring centred which is good news.
Other than that cosmetics like windshield rubber and some other little issues.
All in all the mechanic reckons she is a good solid car with no major issues no evidence of any accident repair and is as many people say bulletproof engine wise. She also has a brand new exhaust.
This makes me very happy because as long as the body/chassis is good the cosmetics and small issues I will deal with as I want a driveable project car anyway. Other good news is that I got $4,000 knocked off the price tag so now more sensibly priced at $15k.
So look out after tomorrow when I take delivery I will be on here a lot bugging the s*&t out of the knowledgable amongst you.

sounds like you found a good one!
"...as long as the body/chassis is good..."
I hope you've had a 911 body expert (as oposed to a mechanical expert) inspect for hidden rust & past repair... seems even nice old galvanized 911s can be susceptable to rust in the lower A-pillar corners, at the frt fender / body seams, the door wells (esp at the rear lower corners) & of course, the jack points. your mention of the windshield rubber "cosmetic" (can water flow in?) reminded me of these issues... good luck & enjoy!

Yes Ked the car was inspected in the local Porsche dealership and one guy drove it, one did mechanical and another body/chassis inspection. No rust at all anywhere. The rubber does leak a little but I have an entire seal kit ordered from Pelican already to take care of this issue.

Congrats daviboy! Enjoy your 'new' car.
And remember, as you look it over in your own driveway, you will start to see all of it's warts. Have no fear - just throw money at it & it all works out in the end.

Ian I was present throughout the entire PPI and have already seen a few warts, but she is beautiful to me even with them.
