Thanks for compliments. If my kids don't want the car I'll have my wife bury me in it when I die. Having it leave the family is inconceivable to me. It looks like it has about 100,000 fewer miles and runs/drives like new. I feel really lucky that my dad took such good care of it. I couldn't possibly count how many times I washed it growing up but he's really the one who deserves credit for its condition.
The pedals are Rennline. They always have an ad in Panorama. One of the minor changes I made after purchasing the car. I like them and the kit actually allows you to raise the throttle pedal a bit (helpful for those of us with room to improve in the heal and toe department).

Beautiful car and compelling story. Did you own both the 996 TT and the 911 contemporaneously? I always flirt with the idea of buying a TT, but I currently have 2 Porsches and, were I to buy one, one of them would likely have to go. Why did you sell your TT?

Again, thanks for the compliments. Yes, I owned the tt andt he Carrera at the same time. My dad was thinking of selling the Carrera because he needed the money and he wasn't driving it. I think he had always hoped that I would end up with it so it made sense at that time to buy it. It still doesn't get driven much but I do drive it hard at times and I love the thought of owning it.
The twin turbo was absolutely incredible. It was my daily driver and functioned well in that regard. I guess I always just felt a little guilty about how much money I was spending to own it vs. the few miles that I actually put on it. On top of that, I'm expecting another child so needed a little better back seat (bought an M3) and I wanted to get my debt:income looking a little better because I'd really like to snap up a property or two in this down real estate market. They really are incredible cars, especially for the going prices on them these days. My wife is pretty confident that I'll be shopping for another one before too long but I do like not having a car payment right now.
