I don't think the newer Porsches are snubbing the older cars...they just don't realize they are part of a fraternity. Boxsters and 996s are perhaps the worst...the lease deal Porsches, complete with Audi climate control systems and all. The Cayenne folks seem a little more excited, partly because they are buying into the marque with a sport utility. In fact, I've had Cayenne owners wave and I admit to kind of half-heartedly acknowledging them...being VW trucks and all. Then we bought a Cayenne, making me a hypocrite.

I get good and bad attention. The good comes in the form of a thumb's up, a wave, nod, or the odd comment. The bad attention is where the cars that want to race you.

just let them go, they usually just end up at the next red light

i've only raced 3 people in the '76 and all were mates, one in an SC, one in a 993 and the other in a WRX

While in Europe with my newest 911 (06 S Cab) I was approached by several German men who all knew all about PCCB (ceramic) brakes on these things. They truly know their cars over there. I had lot of great conversations over there with a variety of folks. The Europeans really know everything about Porsche.

shame more of the attention isnt from 21yr old girls [/QUOTE]

Are you guys serious?

I get woman checking me out all the time. Young and older (my age)

The kids yell and wave which is nice as well.

I find the middle age guys take a look and then look away pretending they didn't notice.

Agree on the compliments. Last time I was at a gas station some men in a Benz was talking about my car, I could hear them say: "If I ever gonna buy a Porsche, it gonna be one just like that one!"

A Fiat Multipla with a dad and his family once tried to race me when I was driving a BMW 530 E39. I tried to ignore him, and just let him get in front, but his acc was so slow that I couldn't stay behind him.

A Cayenne!! A Cayenne?? geeeez!

You buy a CAYENNE and call 996's the worst???
Oh PUL-EEEZ! heh heh...

I always will acknowledge another Porsche, except of course a Cayenne.. because they are all driven by people with cell phones glued to their ears or soccer moms

Had a Cayenne lady driver flash her lights in my rearview mirror, early one Sat. AM. I had just pulled out and was engaging my normal "warm-up" mode...her she comes right up my *** flashing those lights....for the helluvit, I waved her around,..and unloaded the finger as she pulled by....it was just a bit later that I blasted by her,..the only P-driver I ever hung the bird to.....

Best,

Doyle

Before I bought my car, I made a comment to a buddy of mine that he must get a lot of chicks with his 930. He laughed and told me it was just the opposite. He said that what the girls are actually thinking is who's the a-hole with the small ***** driving around in the Porsche.
