The red top warning light on my 1987 Cabriolet mysteriously stays on when I turn the car on with the top down. The only way to get it off is to raise the top and then lower it again. Any ideas as to why the idiot light is coming on and what I can do to remedy it?

Same thing happened on my 88 911. First I just disconnected it, have to put good insulation on the end as it will short and cause a fire. Then used it for the idiot light for an Escort 9500ci which was perfect for the install. Will follow to find out the "correct" solution. Glenn

Now I'm considering ditching the power top and "converting" to manual. I have read some threads about it but they were for the 993. How would I do this on the '87?
