Default Touch-up paint source

Hi all, just found out what you probably knew, Porsche doesn't supply touch up paint for my baby anymore.

Anyone know a decent source? I searched here (rennlist) but I only came up with paintscratch.com, and they don't seem to carry venetian blue metallic (L35U), although they do have venetian blue (metallic wasn't spelled out) under a different code.

If I have no luck I may just cave and get that eventually - all I want to do are stone dings and door edge nicks.

I think a few people have tried drcolorchip.com. Never tried it myself, if you do let me know how it works out.

PaintScratch.com

You can get it in aerosol and in tubes, etc. but call them to confirm what they might be able to do for you.

Thanks OM neri - I will try'em next week and will let you know how I make out.

Dan - were you saying I should try paintscratch again? ( did you notice I mentioned above they didn't list my color - and it's the only one labeled 'difficult to match') Thanks

I use www.drcolorchip.com and am very happy with it. Their directions seem a little odd but if you follow them they work. They don't list colors rather, you send them your color and they mix to match.

Along the lines of what Porsche8777 said, you might consider removing your gas cap (or some other part from your car), and letting a local "high end" paint guy custom match your paint instead of using a "preset formula". I've ordered from Paintscratch before, and although it's a pretty close match for my Diamond Blue Metallic, imo a good paint shop could probably do as good or better and make you up a small batch.

All the paints are built to a formula. It's a matter of the company having that formula. All body shops have those formulas,--or will get them if they have to do a repair. That's all it takes.
