Default G50 fluid

I was at autozone today to get some mobile1 75/90, as usual. I remember someone said Delvac is replacing MObile 1 75-90 gear oil but I saw they still have more than 10 bottles of Mobile1 on the shelf and I don't see any Delvac at all. Is the Delvac better or should I still use mobile1? I also see there are other brands for a lot cheaper, as low as $2.xx/bottle and all are synthetic. Do you think I have been "over paid" by using mobile1 or it's definitely the better?

Oh I saw Lucas synthetic 75-90 too. I have read about Lucas somewhere in here but don't remember anything about it. Is it better than Mobile1 or Mobile1 is still the best for G50?

The Mobile1 bottle said LS, GL5 and such...
Thanks.

The Mobilube SHC/Delvac that's recommended is not the same stuff as the Mobile 1 that Autozone carries...I wouldn't even consider the cheap stuff. I'd keep looking...

You usually have to order it as I don't think it is on retailers shelf yet. I ordered mine from a place in Virginia....can't remember the name. Just google Mobilube Delvas and see what you get.

Let me extend my question a little further. Several friend of mine swear by redline. Can someone tell me the comparison between redline and mobile1, for G50?
Thanks much.

Here's my limited experience. When I first acquired my car, she shifted smooth, even when cold, until I changed my tranny fluid the first time (I don't know what gear lube "was" in there). I made the same mistake you were about to, and put the "Autozone" Mobile 1 in there and began to experience the typical notchiness that many G50s do on the 1-2 shift when cold, but only for the first few times through the gears. I then tried Amsoil with the same result, and now have Redline in her...ditto. It's not bad, and I simply double clutch the first few 1-2 shifts to eliminate the "catch", but I'm not done yet . I think I'll try the Mobilube SHC/Delvac or Royal Purple, or what Pete Z recommends (Valvoline???) next time, as I'm just nitpicky that way. Although Amsoil and Redline make excellent products, (I've read that) and based upon personal experience don't think they are the "best" for G50s. Good luck!

KC,
I read many people said double clutch for this problem but what exactly double clutch?

I want the delvac or mobilube too but I hate to order online and wait and I want to be able to do it this weekends. hate the feeling of thinking about it and wait. So I think I am going to get the redline then. This is what you used right?

Yes, that's the Redline that I used. Double clutching is when you press the clutch in, shift into neutral, release the clutch, press the clutch again, and then shift into the next gear. I do it for both upshifting and downshifting when my G50 is cold for the first few times (and of course, since she's cold, I'm not pushing the revs past 3500 or so, and am generally just "babying her") until both the engine oil and tranny oil warm just a bit. With a bit of practice, it becomes "second nature", and that eliminates the "catching" that my G50 is prone to do when cold.

oh.. that's it not easy. I use to shift normal until I read Pete post about pausing at neutral. I am learning to pause now and I think it's not easy to remember already.
Thanks.

KC,
I used the normal LS Mobile1 75/90 last time I changed and I do have the nothcy feel as many other G50 do. I tried to double cutch as you described and it works better, much better. The onlly thing is that it's hard to control the RPM with double clutch method (during warming up, only rev up to 4k rpm and do not let it drop below 2.5k rpm).
Thanks KC.
