Thoughts on This Car '89

I've decided my next car is going to be an 87-89 Carrera. I'm not quite ready to buy yet but I stumbled upon this one on Autotrader. It looks like an okay deal considering all the mods. My problem is I plan building a keeper and making it what I want. I'm not sure about hacking apart an anniversary car. When My car is done it will be Mexico Blue, Carrera script, 3.2 short stroke, roll cage, no interior, RSA door panels. If it doesn't make it faster or brake better it goes. Is this car priced right?

IMO, this anniversary car has already been hacked to a certain degree. I'd say the PPI with a check of the mechanicals will determine if it's the right price and whether the mods that are there are worth any money to you.
If the mods are not what you want and you plan on doing a bunch of work to the car, I'm sure that there are less costly units out there to start your project.

If the PPI checks out I say its a good deal. And I agree with Racer, there's not much about that car that screams Anniversary Edition anymore anyway. In completely stock form its probably worth a decent amount more. If the current mods appeal to you then figure you're already ahead of the game.
If you can document that the car has been well-maintained and the PPI checks out, I wouldn't be afraid of the miles. I have an '88 with 129k on the clock and nothing but a new clutch. It really comes alive on the track, slower but much more rewarding out there than my 600hp 996tt.

I personally think that looks like a pretty bad *** 911. I like that black on black wheels. In my opinion price is a tad high. All you can do is see it in person and see how it drives go from there.

Just my personal preferance, and matter of opinion. I usually wont give an older 911 a second look without them.
If they fit your tastes then they are fine. Thats whats great about Porsches...they are for the driver. I dont own my car for what other people think of it or me.

I have to agree with Michael, Fuchs wheels snap my socks; the others, BBS, Fikse, etc. just aren't the same. For me, Fuchs are the very essence of '89 and earlier 911s... That said, I do like the various finishes that people have come up with on Fuchs wheels, and they look great in all black in certain applications.

The ideal car for me and what I want to do would be - 87-89, straight rust free body, high mileage okay, no sunroof, bad interior, troubled but salvageable engine, cheap price tag. Add ons like Fikse's and big brakes would just be gravy. I could use the Fikses for the track and get a set of Fuchs for the street.
