Hello guys, i am relatively new to this forum and i am in need of an answer to a question i have.
I have a 77 911S. As most of you know, the engines produce low amount of HP and are not as durable as other years. The engine is a 2.7 liter. If my engine ever blows how much could i expect to pay for a good 3.0 or 3.2 liter?
Thanks,
dan

great minds think alike! (see signature)
from memory my 3.0 was $13k (fully rebuilt) plus all the other bits and pieces (SSIs, monty, fuel pump, 6 pin CDI, labour etc etc i was up neat $18k (add $3k for 3.2)
in hindsight i suppose i could have got a 3.6 from the US for a few k more (esp considering i'm about to spend $4k + on PMOs and cams)

the car has a good body and all it just needs restoration. I think im just guna paint it the GT3RS orange color and then put gulf blue vinyl lettering and such on it to make it look a little cooler. And then i will replace the interior carpeting and such to make it better. Its a fun car so i will just drive the hell out of it as a daily driver.

You certainly do not need to spend what JV did. Some one else could certainly give you a better estimate on an economical engine swap, one that does not have an overhaul. If you do it yourself you could probably get by close to your cost of $5,000 for a used engine. All in all though you may just be better buying a SC or a 3.2 Carrera since they are cheap in perspective.
