I've got about 2500 miles on Brad Penn 20W50 oil. Should I change oil before I go to the track this weekend? (DE at Mid Ohio)
How often do y'all change Brad Penn oil? I wouldn't normally change this soon, but I thought maybe I need new oil on board for the track driving?

Shannon: If your oil has been in the engine 6 months or less I would say leave it alone. A semi-syn oil (I assume that you're using BP 20W/50 Racing oil) should certainly be durable enough to do a DE; it's TBN (Total Base Number) is 10.6, higher than Porsche's desired 10.0, so the oil can clearly deal with acids and such that form in the engine. Just be sure that your oil level is about halfway between the "min" & "max" marks on the dipstick, and go have fun!
I had another thought, are the DE organizers requiring that tires meet a certain date code? Don't know how old your tires are, but I'd hate to hear that you got turned away at tech inspection!

Hey Pete, thanks for the response.
The oil is 5 months old. Has less than 3000 miles on it.
It is BP 20W50 Racing Oil.
Nope - there are no required date codes on the tires. Only requirement is 3/32" tread all the way across.
