hey dan it was nr1. i got one now (or to be honest my shop have). it was period correct for a u.s. 69T.
the new cylinder rings arrive tomorrow.
a previously very loose weber jet can do this to an engine. crazy. the messed up mixture created a semi-flamethrower effect on the pistons head.
after the jet was fixed a month prior, it had already weakend the piston and so it broke after le mans classic X thousand miles from home in the south of france. (ouch, ouch, ouch) loss of oil pressure, rough 5 cylinder sounding noise and a smell of oil in the cockpit meant pulling over to find liguid oil in the exhaust. therefore game over for my pan-europe trip. well its nearly fixed, and theres next year to do the same trip again.
