Default Fresh air motor fan controller(dash slider)

Can the control for the fresh air (slider on dash) be repaired?
Is the speed control acheived by different resistors being switch or is it microswitches

From what I here all the device does is make a lot of noise and pushes a small amount of ait through the defrost vent and sides.

Instead of repairing it (which would be very difficult), I would replace the motor itself and not the entire fan assembly. I think you can get one for $100 new. That said, I also think that there are a series of resistor switches. But before you go and start replacing all these components, I would put an electrical tester on the motor leads to see if you have power.

John is right in that the fresh air isn't all that excellent, but it's nice to have for defrost purposes.
