Default Turn Signals Mystery

Ok, I've taken a holiday from trying to figure out why my turn signals stopped working. Car is an 89 3.2 Targa. I'm looking for some fresh ideas since I'm at a loss.

When I bought this car in Oct last year, the signals worked as did the emerg flashers.

Then, a few months later [early this year] they began to work intermittently. They would work some times and at other times they would cause the alt light to come on [not solid, but sort of half on] and a buzz would come from behind the guages where the flasher is. At this same time the emergency flasher pretty much stopped working too. Also, at this time [maybe/maybe not coincidental] the reverse lights would sometimes work and sometimes not. If they didn't, the alt light would come on solid when I put the lever in reverse.

Things I've done;
new valeo alternator/regulator
new signal switch
a few new flashers
tried a different, known good emerg switch
headlight relay kit
I've checked grounds but . . .

The reverse lights are fine now. No issue there. Just no turn signal.
When I park, the 'parking lights' work if I flip the turn signal switch.

I guess I'm thinking there is a bad wire somewhere

thanks for anything that comes to mind

Check the bulb sockets & bulbs. I think the sockets are white metal. Clean them up & put some dielectric grease in there to stop corosion.
This helped me so give it a try.

Another basic thing to try... Clean up the fuses and contacts in the fuse box. I had some brake light and reverse light issues. Checked the fuses, and they were "fine." Not blown. But, finally the suggestion came to clean the fuses with sandpaper. Worked brilliantly. They just had a light layer of corrosion on them preventing good contact. I don't know if this bears at all on the buzzing sound you're reporting, but it can't hurt to make sure you've got good contacts in the fuse box as well as the light bulb sockets as already mentioned.
