Default clutch stop?

Do they make a clutch stop for our cars. I once had one for an e36 M3, very inexpensive. Screwd right into the back of the clutch, worked great. shortned they clutch press and at the same time preserved the life of the clutch.

anyone?

There is a built in clutch stop in the wood floor section behind the pedal cluster. It adjust with an allen wrench I beleive.

I've adjusted the clutch pedal stop all the way up to the top of its range. This allows maximum clutch pedal travel and maximum clutch disengagement. Does setting at maximum disengagement create potential problems? Bentley manual says adjust clutch pedal travel to 150 mm, which is less than full pedal travel. Can't see why it makes any difference, so long as the clutch is fully disengaged.

I believe it puts undue stress on the helper spring and may damage it. PZ?

That isn't going to shorten the throw the way you want. It will decrease the distance the clutch will travel, but not change the distance required to disengage the clutch. To shorten the trow of the pedal and clutch you have to change the geometry of the linkage. Is this a cable or hydrolic clutch? could this be done with pedal blocks?

This sounds more like what you want to do....

Yes, thats what I want, to decrease the distance the clutch will travel. "but not change the distance required to disengage the clutch", Im not sure I understand the difference.
I have an hydrolic clutch.

it's all about leverage and geometry. You would have to attatch the hydrolics further down the clutch pedal. Just bringing the pedal closer to your foot with pedal blocks would give you similar results with alot less work.

If you have an 87-89 G50,, the correct adjustment is 5.91 inches from the clutch fully unloaded (pedal all the way up) to where the stop is located. There are two 4mm hex head screws that when loosened can be moved up or down to provide the 5.91 inches. You may have to adjust it several times to get it right. That's what the factory manual says.
