Post 1978 911SC, rough going

Hi there!

I have a 1978 911 SC with a 930/03 engine.
The first issue I now need to adress is that it is kind of rough going when
cold but soon picks up (a minute or so) idling nicely. The power seems to be
good at all revs and everything feels quite normal warming up and driving
around warm. <img border="0" alt="[burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" /> The real trouble comes when i shut down the engine for a few
minutes and then starts again. The smoke coming out the pipe is then
suddenly very colored (white) and the engine is very rough-going. It will
not stay idling, but stops. I have to help it running with the pedal. After
a few minutes it runs better but still not holding a perfect idle. After as
much as 10-15 minutes it seems to be back to normal again holding the revs
around 1k at idle.
Injectors, plugs, rotor and cap and the ignition-wires are new. I'm no
expert on CIS so I could use some hints here! One thing that has come to my
mind is the coldstart-valve. I've not checked it.. Anyway - any clues are
greatly appreciated!!

Best regards,
eJensen

Check the simple stuff first. Lots of 20+ year old vacumm hoses an they are cheap. Check cold and warm pressure from the warm up regulator. Check the mixture setting (CO). If you have a test guauge with frequency it should dither around 50%. If not use the 4 cyl dwell range. It should dither around 45%.
