Post We've Lost a "Fellow Traveller"...

George Harrison has died. For many of us in "my generation" he represented qualities of musical talent, personal joy, spiritual exploration, duty to society, and many other of our highest aspirations.

In particular, the fact he reconcilled the spirtual life with the drive for competition in motor racing and the beauty of things mechanical was especially meaningful to me.

Of course, he was also a Porsche owner. Thank you, George, Godspeed.

Yes another Beatle gone and at only 58 years of age - much too soon. Im listening to a radio tribute now as I write. I didnt know he was a car enthusiast- what type(s) of Porsches did he have?

Take comfort that he will live forever through his music and the joy it brings....

Today is a sad day for me...
I play in a Beatle's cover band (we used to do a lot of Beatles, but not strictly) that competed nationally. George's sister Louise saw us play at Beatlefest in Chicago, came up to me and told me "George would be proud if he could see you right now"
That was a highlight of my career so far!
RIP George.
Respectfully,
Pete

As one who seems to be joining the ranks of the "chronologically challenged" at a speed which I could only WISH my 911SC were capable of, it doesn't seem like it was that long ago I watched the Beatles debut on Ed Sullivan in 1964 (but it WAS a long time ago G*).Overshadowed by the writing and public personae of Lennon and McCartney,"the quiet Beatle",as he was known, contributed musically with a Beatles signature song-"Something", (and a personal favorite- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"). For those of us who are Beatles' fans, while Lennon's assasination was tragic and unexpected, Harrison's passing is another reminder of "tempus fugit". If I could only figure out how to slow down my life and speed up my car! *G*

More sadness. But, Harrison's body of work will live on for generations to come.

My favorite is also "While my guitar gently weeps".
