and from tremotorsports.com, all the parts required to swap an SC over to a 73RS look would run $3600 before shipping. Another good thing about the tre motorsports stuff is it appears that I could put the stock pieces right back on if I wanted to, which would be a plus.

wow. thats cheaper than I thought. You are 100% correct though.. its really about what you want... what will make you happy.. so go for it... Im sure there are some who think Im nuts for spending 2k+ to get cold AC. That is what is great about these cars... I would certainly look around for a period correct car before you go the backdate route.. you never know.. could run into an estate sale or listed like one I sent you that is reasonable... Good luck... if you do a conversation.. keep us posted...

Well in a perfect world I could find a 73.5 silver 911T Coupe with A/C and either low miles or a recent rebuild for a good price, but chances of that happening probably aren't huge But I know finding a car like that will cost a lot, and the older 911s can get pretty costy to maintain/modify/repair, so I figure my next best bet would be to modify the SC.

There is a thread going on over at Pelican in which someone is going through this backdate, doing the work themselves:

You're correct. '79 930 in Minerva Blue. Thanks for the thumbs up. I love the color too. People say don't buy the color, but I couldn't help myself

Well, looks like the car that's attached to the paintjob you wanted didn't offer much reason to resist the purchase either. That's a nice looking car, if anything can be judged from the small avatar pic.

Don't buy the color!?!?!?!

No wait... Don't buy it. Then there's more Minerva Porsches around for me

Whenever I get my next 911, it's going to end up either silver or Minerva blue. Great color.
