Post 1986 911 Cab Value?

I have a red 1986 911 Cab. I purchased the car with 12,000 miles on it as the third owner, the car now has 20,000 miles. I've owned the car for 8 years. The car is red with no dings, new tires and well maintained. I was a VW mechanic for 10 years, and have done all maintenance, including brake fluid flush, new pads, tune up etc. Runs perfect, except the air doesn't work. What do you think a car like this would be worth?

That's a real low mile 86' Cab. I have an 86' Cab as well that just hit 30K miles. Mine is triple black and I paid 28K almost one year ago. I shopped around quite a bit before buying mine, most were 31-33K in the showrooms here in CA. Plus they were not near the condition of mine nor had they the low miles. I had mine shipped out from the East Coast.

Yours is red, guards red I hope, plus it's the second lowest mile 86' Cab I have seen. Prices seem to have dropped almost 2K since last year but check out www.cpivalueguide.com Last I looked it showed "excellent" worth about 31,700.
Excellent means just like brand new. Don't try comping it on Ebay. The prices there are driven low by all the sharks looking for a deal to resell. Also check out www.enthusiastcars.com they have a search engine that seeks out all Porsche models for sale thats great.

I would make someone pay for that baby. If it's super clean it's a real rare find now. Let me know what you end up asking, I may want it!

Per the Aug. '02 issue of Excellence Mag., Porsche Market Update section a 1986 Cab in Excellent cond. has a value of $29,425 (good is 21,980). I would suspect you could add 5 - 10% for low mileage.

For what it's worth I just bought a '88 Cab (Guards Red/Black) w/ 47k mi. in excellent cond. mechanically and exterior but only good interior and paid $27,500. I think I got a good deal but didn't get a steal of a deal (I'm not complaining).

Around $31,000 if it's showroom condition, and a +10% premium for the low mileage. Which puts you up around $34,000. I just recently purchased a new to me 86 911 cab, for somewhere in the $20's. With 87,000 miles. It's a 9 on a scale of 1-10.

Sounds like you have a bueatty, good luck selling.

WOW! With the price of the newer 964, and 993's so low I didn't think it was worth that much! I wasn't really planning on selling it. The wife has been haunting me, as the car is a garage queen. I'm not afraid to drive it, I travel so much, I don't get the chance. I put on about 300 miles this year. The Cab is Guards Red, no dings but it does have a stone chip here and there. I'll try and post some pictures this week I have a Honda S2000 as my daily driver that I'm considering dumping and getting a 993 as my daily. Thanks for all the great information, at this point however, I think I'm going to hang on to it.

If you're in no rush, I'd ask $35,000 and take $32,000......eventually the right buyer will find the car, fall in love and buy it. If you want to unload it fast, I'd say ask $33,000 and take $30,000.

later,

amir

Looks nice, looks like mine (BSEG) except mine has the wheels painted red where yours are black. I've only had mine for about 2 weeks but I love it. I do wish it had the tan interior but I'm not complaining.

I enjoy tinkering and have a few small projects planned, replacing the rubber brake lines and flushing the brake fluid is first on the list.

Good luck w/ the decision,
Bill
