Default Heat exchanger valves, rusted badly

I discovered that the source of the heat I have been experiencing is due to badly rusted heat exchanger valves. They were not closing fully, and it feels like the valve plate inside is so soft it just bends.
I made an effort to remove them yesterday.
Now I have two broken studs and still have not taken them off the car.
The third nut is nearly impossible to get at.
I had to cut the hose clamps off with a dremel tool.

Anyone have a workaround for the busted stud problem?
