Portland, OR. Possibly Seattle, WA or even Vancouver BC Canada. Julie and I think the PNW is Utopia. We love the green. ..even if it comes with rain.

We also like Northern California, but let's face it, California is full of freaks.

Alot of the people we know sold out of So Cal and landed in places like PNW when real estate was so high. Now they can't get back here. I'd go too if I wasn't so tied to the job and day care. We are tied to our customers. Oregon coast would be nice. Speaking of customers I gotta go.... good luck.

Thanks. It's purely a desire for a lifestyle change (we are NOT Midwesterners, despite being born and "raised" here). It's the worst time to try to do it, we know...we would have left sooner but Julie was working full time and getting her degree from Miami U (Ohio) and only just graduated. But we don't think we can stay here much longer.

Pete...you know what they say....KEEP PORTLAND WEIRD!!!

ps - sorry for the total thread hijack!

A couple of observations about the car:

- Interior looks remarkably similar to my SC. (No ... not the colors and BLING, the gauge and **** locations and genereal set-up on the dash. Also, the block off plate just north of the shifter ... Center consol removed?)
- Engine looks more like a 3.0 with CIS than a 2.7 with mechanical injection (CIS injection?? On a 2.7??)
- Flairs on rear fenders?? SC or '75 with add-ons?? Hmmm.... Steel flairs added??

I think this guy is a "few cans short of a six-pack." I do like the quotables in the ad, though:

"I love to take this to car shows, it is definitely one of a kind."

You can say that again!

"I spent 3 years and thousands of hours on this car, not to mention thousands of dollars!"

"A fool and his money ....."

"I wanted for this car to be a piece of art and it exceeded my every expectation."

Ooof! He's definitely exceeded my expectations! What a piece, indeed!

As the saying goes ... I wish him luck; he'll need it.

What I find so funny is he (I'm assuming a he?) spent aaalllll that money on the smoother, more modern bodywork...but skipped out on the H4s!

I actually kinda like the car....just not $75k like. Not even $25k like. In fact, $15k like is pushing it a bit personally, but I could at least see justification for that.

So what do we think its worth?

From where I sit, its a resto-mod with none of the mods I'd like. He did not even remove the heater fan correctly. He needs to back date the block-off plates so he has hoses going from the shroud to the heat exchangers, or maybe he doesn't have heat.

If you're going to remove the heat, lighten the bumpers, add roll-bar/seats (Corbeaus in a $72,000 car?????), then you are building a track car. Where are the hollow 23/31 t-bars, Smart Racing ARBs and Camber King. This guy is confused. Either build it original, or make it a race car. I don't get it.

Actually, he's right about that!

I'd give him $10K, and use the "savings" to bring the car back to an original-built Porsche. Lose the color (YellowBird ...yeah, right), lose the wheels (Fuchs are lighter, and more period correct), do the necessary repairs (Bungy-cord replacements, etc - HaHa), lose the gauges, lose the tail for a more original decklid/spoiler, dump the bling in a Hollywood swap-meet ... oh yeah, and get some H4's.

But, I already did that with my SC. So, I wouldn't give him anything. Been there, done that.

Now that YOU have hijacked this thread (hey, somebody had to!), my wife was born in Midland, MI, and grew up in Minneapolis. I don't think there is a great desire to move back, but we've talked about starting a computer-based business and moving to Montana, Utah or Idaho. Unfortunately our house in Bakersfield has lost big bucks, so I have a hunch that we're not going anywhere for a while!

Oh, and the car...not exactly Yellow Bird, eh?
