The tail. You don't want to switch out the ride height; it looks great as it is.

If you were going from a Carrera tail to a Turbo it would be cheaper since you could use the same deck lid but doing it the other way around means you have to either get a whole new decklid in addition to a new tail or get the holes in your decklid filled in. This could easily be a $1K+ project by the time you find a tail, decklid, seal, get it painted, installation...I don't dislike the Turbo tail enough to spend that much on a different one.

Not sure about that .... I've got 16 X 7's and 8's (225 front / 245 rear) on my '83SC and they look just like the ones on this ad. You'd possibly need to role fenders for 8's&9's on an SC or deal with the 9's and the oil lines rubbing in the rear, I think. The 16X8's are worth heaps here.

About the tail: looks like there might be a Turbo piece of rubber on a Carrera tail assembly (like mine). You could see about switching the rubber piece out, and look less like a Turbo, if you don't like the Turbo-tail look. The fasteners are on the inside and not too tough to get to.

Nice car. Offer $17.5 and see if the seller bights. These are tough times for selling a Porsche.

My 2-cents.

FWIW, it is the proper (i.e. as delivered) tail for an '83. Good luck with the hunt! Mike

Good to know I guess. I had no idea that they offered as stock, a tea tray style turbo tail with room for an intercooler on SC's. I figured it was normally fitted with a Carrera style tale or the earlier turbo style (pre-intercooler). Makes no functional sence to me.

Anyway...too each their own. What looks even worse is the GT2 style wings on early cars. I even saw a 993TT tail on an early car that was just plain sad looking.

??? For an SC? Huh, I've never seen that on an SC "as delivered". 78 to 89 Turbo, yes. But SC? .... Oh, well. I'm a newby. Only owned my SC for 18 months.

Thanks, Mike.

GET a Pre buy inspection!!! Sounds like a nice buy in the $12-$12 range. You can remove the entire deck lid with the tail and put on another lid. If you ever sell it then you have both ways to go with the lid.

That car is local for me, I've seen it for sale for a while. I haven't bothered to look at it because it seems too expensive to me. It's also been on eBay several times, I think it's on there right now. Maybe I'll go drive it and report back. I'm sort of in the market for an SC but I've never driven one.

On '83's, yes, the turbo tail was used. On '78's - '82's, I can not say for certain.
