Hi ,

I have a 1972 2.4S,

I swapped the battery for a Odyssey battery, it cranked a couple of times then nothing.......i checked the connections, even swapped in the the old battery....still no cranking. The lights work so there is power, there is a slight whistle/werring sound from the engine bay. Does anyone have any suggestions ?

Is it a starter motor problem, or possibly a fuse ?

if it is not cranking ( turning over ) iwould suspect the strter otor if all your electrical connections are clean and tight. ( including grounds. )

I'd suggest what Iceman said : "strter otor:......(OK Ice, you asked for it...)
