My first Porsche was a 1974 911 - plain Jane 150HP 911. I *loved* that car! Then I bought my '79 930 and had TWICE the fun........... Then, my future wife (version 2.0) plainly stated that I could not buy a much-needed sport -ute without selling one of the 911's. I sold the '74 to a police sargeant in Charlotte and nearly cried on the day he pulled away from the house. And lately, my wife has even regretted the decision to sell that car.

If I could find a decent '74 Carrera (a REAL one) at a reasonable price, I'd buy it in a hearbeat.

I hope I never have to answer this question regarding my 1978 911SC.

After thoroughly sorting it out, I sold my '85 ZZZ 911 a few years ago to my best friend. Within a month I started asking him if I could buy it back. Eventually, he got so tired of me pestering him that he went to his lawyer and put me in his will as the inheritor of the car. I stopped bugging him.

I would only regret the sale if another couldn't be had. So for the rare and perfect examples, I can see where people are coming from. But for all others, if you regret the sale, you could always pick up another one.

I think this is the missing paragraph in the Hester story...

Now, in this case, I would have to juggle either slitting my wrists or selling every owned asset. Tough choice.
