Just got the new carpet from appbiz, and maybe I was expecting too much but this stuff is really low quality, its almost see through when put up against light. I guess for 290 shipped I got what I paid for. Should I return and buy pelican's stuff?

I would get the best possible quality you can get. Something that can be steam cleaned and last for years. You don't want to be changing your carpet too often.

Once you peel the carpet off the undercoated, body schutzed interior areas you can shoot brake cleaner (trichlor) on that stuff to help break down the adhesive qualities of the glue in there. With the paint old, it is very cured and quite resistant. Watch it around plastics, however, so you don't discolor anything. (Plastics to watch out for would include things like the black plastic part of a center console--many are covered with leather now). Just take it easy and be careful of overspray. If you're trying to remove carpet adhesive there are few things other than elbow grease to help you along. Trichlor works well, but do it well ventilated and watch where you spray it.

Which carpet did you get? They've got lightweight Perlon, I know, and they've got more traditional domestic and I thought, the Sliverknit good stuff.
I've got their Perlon set, and it was exactly what I wanted/expected. All the borders were finished nicely.

I got the cheap domestic stuff Ed, I know the perlon is good for track use because its light but this stuff is really thin, almost see through when put up against light. Maybe I should spring for silverknit and pay the extra 300 dollars. I'm really disappointed with the quality, some parts dont even fit right.

I see what you're talking about. I just looked at his website, and he says "genuine" German Slivernit, so I suppose it's got to be the good stuff. You may want to talk to him and verify that there isn't any difference in the backing or something when you go up in grade.

Lol I love these shoes, 10 dollars! The carpet I bought wasn't silverknit it was "Domestic Cut Pile". I am not sure if it will even be worth it to go up to the silverknit, still may not be the quality of the factory stuff. The worst part was seeing that the cutouts couldnt cover some of the pieces they were supposed to, theyre too small!

Decisions have been made. I am going with domestic cut pile.
Reasons:
1. Silverknit is better, but 220% the price of domestic better? eehhh maybe
2. This is my first carpet install and there will surely be several imperfections, so I'm gonna stick with the cheaper stuff and next time i'll go with the genuine german silverknit when I know I can do a perfect job .
