Default Power to manual window conversion....Good idea???

In less than a year on my 87 Carerra I've replace all three power window switches and now the passanger side motor seems to be out.

Let me ask this. What is the thoughts, feelings for replacing the power windows with good ol' wind up ones. I would want it to look original but would it be cost prohibitive or really hurt future sale price and be just plain goofy?

If it's not a good idea any advice, helpful hints for replacing the motor?

Thanks
Matthew

it sounds like you are half way to having a brand new system. Why start over with yet another one. you need a motor only now to stay electric. to go manual you have to start from scratch. Try www.911pcar.com They may have a used one ready to go. Do a search and see what others have done. Good luck. Just don't change anything.

I have the same problem and need to replace the motor.
Doug,
I can't seem to find that particular part on the www.911pcar.com website.

Thanks, Rice

It may not be the motor but the helper spring. My center pivot snapped and lost tension on the spring. My motor labored to move up. I made a replacement pivot and Voila back in business. WIIT, I cleaned and lubed every moving part. There was a bunch of old grease and even broken pieces of glass on the tracks.

Test the motors with a direct 12Volt Source to verify the motors are bad. Switches get allot of corrosion due to the elements, cleaning then and using Di-electric grease will solve a bunch of proper load issues.

My 2 cents

Go to www.DCAuto.com I got my 87 window regulator from there. Just be careful because half way through 1987 they changed the regulators!!! Ask for Russ and make sure you send them a photo so they know which one you have. I went through 3 shipments before I got them to send the correct one.

Oshin, that is a great tip. Do you know your date of production? were you early or late?
