Default Budget R-Gruppe 911? (Warning newbie question!!)

I am a big fan of these cars love the simplicity and the hot rod ideals of these cars.

please consider
-I can weld
-I can do bodywork
-I don't care so much about authenticity or rare parts
-I don't mind a later model motor
-If I can't afford it I substitute. If I can't substitute I make it.
-If I don't know how to do it I will learn.
-I am not afraid to learn paintwork or I will drive it in primer
-I would probably learn to sew an interior rather than pay someone else

What would you estimate the cost to replicate this style of car?

The cost depends on where you start from. A long nose 911 would be much easier to start from than a later model. Call the folks at TRE. They've done quite a few and can give you a much better idea of what you are getting into.

If you can do most of your own work, somwhere between $5k and $50k+.

Keep looking around till you find somthing that has most of what you want with problems you can fix mostly with labor. Even a 912 could be a great R car.

Dose not have to have Fuchs wheels. Seen some rad cars with steel wheels. Some times you can buy a second car and get your money back on the parts you sell off...

I will not toutch a car with rust again, you could.

One of my cars was a 72T years ago that had a small motor fire. Just needed one set of plastic stacks ($40) an air cleaner and a little paint. Total cost, $2500. Was nice w 6" fuchs, ivory, new SSI's & solid motor. In today money migh be as much as $10k.

Bought a 914-6 project for $6k. Sold off the 7+8 Fuchs, transmission adn a bunch of parts and kept the 2.8 twin plug. Sold off my 2.4 T motor. Pickedup a set of 2.4 stacks & MFI pump. Bought a 2.7 RS space cam and installed it my self with tools I made. Inded up with the motor for free.

Found some 6.5 x 15 mini lights wheels on the cheap and bought some BFG R1 225/15 tires....

Cut down an aluiminum race seat and striped the interior.

That thing was faster than any twin turbo up to 70 mph.

Keep you eyes open, somthing will turn up.

If you can get a decent runner, maybe an SC, you should be able to pull it off for 15 to 20. Cosmetics are not an issue for you, so go from there.
