Exhaust on 3.2, is the muffler needed???

It seems like you could remove the cat and put a small muffler or glass pack in its place, and then use the muffler bypass and save ton's of weight from the back and not be too loud. Has anyone tried this?

Or, you could put headers and a Magnaflow on, and get some real power with the weight savings...

Or headers and Supertrapp mufflers. Or just Supertrapp muffler. Either way you can adjust for noise level and power band by removing or adding disc.
