Default Battery tender, Schauer CM1A

I will be adding a battery tender to my Porsche and am looking at the above. Has anyone used one of the Schauer CM1A, and have an opinion on it or other possible recommendations

TIA,

Ralph

Not sure about your brand, but I can safely recommend the Schumacher brand. When I had my shop we sold/installed a large number of them without complaint. About the only problem we had was when an owner forgot to plug his car into a wall outlet! We had a wholesale source for them, but Performance Products in SoCal probably still carries them.

I use a Schauer charger on the helicopter. Top notch quality, but I don't know about the specific model you're looking at.

I've had this model from Schumacher mounted in my car for about five years. http://tinyurl.com/5mlzhl. No problems with it whatsoever. It mounted neatly right next to the battery, and whenever the car is stored for long period of time I simply run a bright orange extension cord to the little pigtail on the charger. I always drape the extension cord over the mirror on the driver's side so I don't accidentally jump in the car and try to drive away with the charger still plugged-in.

HTH.

Default Warning: Fire Hazard

Make sure your insurance will cover damages if a battery tender spark starts a fire. I've heard of a car collection lost this way and the claim was denied.
