In my ongoing quest to finish rebuilding the carb/intake system on our 68' 911L I noticed that the intake manifolds were specific for this car due to the EGR. I also notice that the ports are smaller on one end than the other. I think they are big at the carb throttle butterfly end but small going into the heads. Did the intake runners change on these cars and would it make sense to backdate/update?
Thanks

As I recall, the intake manifolds up through 1968 were one set for the 911S and one for other models, including the 911L. Looking into that, the non-S manifolds have like 3 parts supercedures that occurred along the way. Also, there was a separate set of manifolds, with pollution fitments, for engines with the sportomatic transmission.

Thanks Bill,
Looks like I may have the polution fitments because I have 2 brass fittings that screw into the sides of the left intake manifold and hoses go from there to the EGR system.
