Just follow the steps. Careful who you purchase from, there has been more than one scammer there. Make sure they aren't a newbie who signed up 2 days before and has 3 posts.

Doug,

Don't worry. I have been a member there as long as I have been one here. I hardly post there. It's just got more volume that's all, better for classifieds and searching out bizarre threads. I have my own opinions about pelican but I will keep those to myself or to PM.

I beg to disagree. First of all, Pelican isn't a haven for scammers. They may try to get in there due to the number of potential buyers, but they get weeded out in short order. There is a pretty good group of regular buyers and sellers. Great advice though on looking out for new members selling.

As to the volume, sure there are some bizarre threads, but what's different over here?

There is a wealth of knowledge over there too. Maybe not all to the level of Pete, but Steve Weiner posts there a bit, and guys like Grady Clay and John Walker have forgotten more things than any of us will ever know. Don't ever shortchange or dismiss Pelican as non-relevant. If you ever get into an engine rebuild, the engine build section has a lot of talent that can help you over speed bumps.

I think you may have misunderstood me. I was just saying to be careful of scammers, i.e. guys with 3 posts who are selling expensive parts at half of what they normally sell. Yes, the vast majority are good stand up guys. I have bought numerous things there.

By bizarre I meant some very specific technical issue, 45 page oil thread for example. If you search it on pelican you will find a previous thread on it and get an answer. I am not short changing or dismissing pelican as non-relevant. I use it on a daily basis. It's a great technical resource.

I hope I am better understood now, my apologies for anything I said that may have been misinterpreted.

Now Matt,

You mean kind of like this thread: Oil Thread on Rennlist?

When you are discussing oil (kind of like politics.. religion .. . sex etc) most can go on and on and on and on. I never anticipated that thread to get so huge but I guess where there is pentup demand, you get things like that.
