i'd like some thoughts on a possible purchase in the next few years... a friend of my fathers recently passed away. he was the owner of a 1975 911S spec car with a "sportomatic" drivetrain. what's the special deals associated with this type of drivetrain/clutch layout, and what should be the price (approx) of this car. it has cookie cutter wheels, and it is emerald green. the car has been impeccably maintained and doesnt have a TON of mileage, but it was driven regularly.
thanks for your help!

Mike:
You'll definitely want to pick up the December 2002 copy of the magazine "Excellence". It has a great article about a nice 1971 911T Sportomatic. It's about the best article I've read in recent memory about the Sporto trans.
They are not too popular, so I would assume resale value is a bit below a similar 4 or 5 speed manual trans car.
Good Luck,
Jay

$18k is an awful lot to pay for a '75 with sportomatic!!! Unless the mileage is extemely low & it has had all the necessary 2.7L modifications done (& documented!) I would think $8k would be reasonable.
