'87 Carrera rear brake light
Can anyone explain an '87 Carrera with factory spoilers which has the "ET" style rear 3rd brake light?
Some are inside on the top of the rear window others are outside with the "appendage". Why the difference?

According to the Red Book, in '86, 3rd brake light was high mounted in rear window, which was changed in '87 to the bottom of the rear window.
I think cars with tails had the ET-style periscope on the outside for better visibility. Possible that the tail, though factory, was added afterwards? Just a thought.

One other little tidbit I found out first-hand, there are 2 different ET styles, one for a tail & one for without on the Cabs.
The mounting location is such that half of the bottom of ET's neck is on the tail & the other half car-forward of the tail. Half-on / Half-off, aka, the Mr. Miyagi style of brake lights.
