Tough Day at the ALMS
Well everything was under contraol with 10 minutes to go .. and all hell broke loose.
it looked like we were in good shape for an OVERALL win . Then before you knew it we didn't even get a class win in the LMP2. We were passed by Luhr ( traitor ) ..them Brabham. Yikes...
And the Ferrari beat us in the Gt2 class.... man a few more laps and we would have had em ....
At least the Ferrari leaving the pits without it's engine cover was funny.

That's it! Wasn't good for Porsche. The Penske P2s should've won.
The Dyson P2s didn't look good from the start. The Audis were strong
which paid off in the end. The Porsche GT2 gets beat by Ferrari.

I see this as a good year for Porsche in ALMS. Last year the Ferrari's destroyed the RSR. This year is different and to my surprise the revised car is fast out of the box.

"great Pics Loren"
Thanks. Just had my pocket point-and-shoot. So the race pictures aren't
the best, but at least my panning helped to not blur them. The race was
great to watch and to see how each re-positioned during "traffic".

I watched Friday qualifying. I love ALMS.
After the last session, I watched the Penske team remove the gearbox internals and front area teardown (front springs, horizontal shocks, etc.) on each car as "race preparation". It took about 30 to 45 minutes for them to simultaneously disassemble all this on each. The full re-assembly (after gear evaluations, replacements(?) that were done inside the trailer) was complete by the time the next session of drifting and Speed Challenge ended. The team was gone by dusk. They even cleaned the spare wheels and waxed the body components.
On another note- I attended the Circle Porsche RS Spyder gathering on Wednesday. Patrick and Sasha were there signing posters and talking about their challenges. The #6 car was there along with a scaled Spyder cake. Chocolate, vanilla and strawberry filling. I tried to get one the wheels, but instead came home with a side mirror. They also have the Boxster RS and a 1972 or 1973 Carrera RS 2.8.
Sasha's comment on the biggest physical challenge for him: Dealing with the effects of downforce. For Patrick: Staying focused during all the pressure.
Cool event. Thanks Circle and PCA.
Fun race to watch on KABC Digital. Those Audis sure can pull on the straightaway. Strangely silent though. Silent but deadly.

...and getting to see it on TV was a nice surprise! I guess that interest brings spectators, which brings sponsors, which brings more well-known drivers, which brings more teams, which brings more, well, everything. Really, really cool - now if we could only get Porsche back into F1!

I thought the Lizzards could have used better strategy to beat the mean, nasty Ferrari.
I wish we could have heard the audio of the Ferrari driver when he was repeately pushing the restart button.
