What is the original size Fuchs for 70 911E?
Hi All,
I'm trying to help a friend get his 70 911E sorted out, and he'd like to put a set of 15 inch Fuchs on it. I can't remember the original width of the Fuchs for that vintage 911. Any help? Thanks

the most common were Fuchs 6x15 ET36 , there was also a very unpopular Fuchs 5.5x14 ET41
also steel 5.5x15 ET42 in painted or chrome
there was also a cast magnesium 5.5x15 ET42

I'm guessing that Most US 911E's of that vintage came with the 14 inch wheel and the hydropneumatic front struts and no anti-roll bars. I beleive that was the standard US spec for them.

Thanks for the help
If it is 14 inch for the non-torsion bar suspension, it sounds like 15 inch wheels would be original for this particular car. Thanks for all the help. Jeff

Jeff,
It is also important if your friend is after originality to get the "deep" six fuchs, with a 901 not a 911 part #. Depending when your friends car was made he may need wheels with "hearts" or "w/o hearts". If you want to get really **** you want wheels with a date stamps 1-3 months before car was built. PM me if you need more information.

For what its worth. If seeking originality, the correct tire size for the 15x6 Fuchs is 185/70/VR15. A recent check found this tire size only at Coker, for $380/tire (!!!!) for a Michelin , plus tax, plus shipping. Orininality has its price.
