Question Widest tire on a 6" wheel?

Right now I have 205/40's on my 16" x 6" Fuchs. I like the gear ratio this height gives me, but I'd like to put wider tires under my narrow fenders.

Who can tell me the widest tires they have successfully run on 6" rims?

Thanks,

Chris

I run 225/55-16's on my 16x6 Taurus SHO wheels, non-911 obviously. Stock is 215 on that setup.

That's a bit of a bulge, too. So, you're looking at sidewall flexing, which probably isn't a good thing.

Here is a cool wheel/tire size calculator: http://www.wheelsmaster.com/rt_specs.jsp

Like Fred said, the farther away you get fom a low wheel-width to tread-width ratio, the more sidewall bulge you're going to get. That said, I don't know how sidewall bulge will effect the car. It is possible that sidewall bulge will not effect the car at all but that seems unlikely.
