That little green car was conceived by William Dick, who, at the time had an ownership share of Porsche Cars Southwest in Texas. He hired a designer, and had Dick Troutman of Troutman-Barnes in L.A. build it. The basis for the car was a new '67 S, which was made 21" longer, and the body became, ah, distinguished by four doors that all latched at the B-pillars. Porsche also built one or two prototypes with stretched platforms, but they were two-door models.
