Will these wheels fit?
Hi guys
I'm thinking of putting some 17" rims on the 3.2 - just for the sake of being able to swap about (I appreciate that Fuchs are the only true rim, don't worry). My question is, will the following 17" rims fit from a 996? They are the five-spoke design that often came with the C4/tiptronic. I don't think I've seen them on an IB before. TIA
Width - 7J and 9J
Offset - 55
Stud diameter - 130
Part nos: 995362124016 (FRONT)
99636212401 (REAR)

Cheers WPOZZZ, I appreciate that they're going to change the look considerably. Do you know what spacer I'm likely to need and would it be on the rear only? I have some 18mm spacers lying around - might these do the trick?

Bought them. I had to act quick as was on ebay. Only £165 including reasonable tyres. Gives me options as to what the car looks like, will post pics when they arrive. I'm thinking of getting rid of the decals as well - all part of the personalisation. Purists turn away now...!
Can anyone answer the spacers question? The fronts are only running on 205s so I'm guessing not much problem but I've got some small shims I can throw on if needs be. The rears are on 255s. Cheers.

Well, stock rims are 23mm offset for the front ( using a 7in rim ) and 11mm offset for the rear using a 9 in rim. So if my figures are correct, 55-23=22mm for the front and 55-11=44mm for the rear. Don't for get the studs......66mm for front and 72mm for the back off the top of my head.
Hope that helps
Brad
PS I just checked and you can get spacers from H&R (spacer and stud unit) use nuts provided to attach spacer and your factory nuts to attach rim. They come in 21mm and 43mm

I don't believe those to be 996 rims. Perhaps Cayenne rims. To be quite frank, you will completely destroy your suspension with 17 in rims. You will need to go in and increase your inspection to at least once every 4 months for torque of key suspension components. You might even have to do some NDI (non-destructive inspection) with xray or eddy-current to confirm that the suspension is not failing either. Use considerable caution here,--even for normal road use.

I've seen them on a 993 and they looked gorgeous. Your word of caution seems very heavy (though I appreciate your concern). Many IB cars run various cup wheels and I've never heard such a strong word of caution before. I will keep an eye though, cheers.
Cheers, someone agrees with me. I hope they'll look great too. Not sure about the weight but I'll try to find out.
