Default California Festival of Speed

Was wondering how large a turnout is expected. It's planned for April 4-6.

Roger:

I spoke to Vince Knauf, the event director, on Saturday, 3/8/08. Right now the numbers are a little low, and Vince is hoping for more drivers ... but historically people tend to wait until the last minute to sign up. (Seeing as how it's on the heels of taxes due, it's not surprising.)

I've driven in the Time Trial at that event 3 different times and have only been less than happy with the event once: when POC took the lion's share of the drive time on a Saturday. Other than that one time, I've always enjoyed the Speed Festival. Fontana is a real hoot, and everyone who qualifies should drive that event at least once.

Thanks to a transmission re-build I just got back, I'll miss this year's event.

This was a fantastic event to see. I drove in with my top down last year and was soooo out of place. It's race cars only....and the concourse, well, I should have entered.

Go to their webwsite at PCA Zone8 Link: www.zone8.pca.org

Click on their "Speed Festival" link. Or simply Google PCA Zone 8 and click on the "Speed Festival" link on the Google page.

Thanks-Roger B.

Is this event anything like the Goodwood Festival of Speed on this side of the pond? If so I guess it's fantastic - would be great to see some pics if any of you guys get down there.

I just took a look at the online registration and they show about 70 drivers for club racing and 45 of the same drivers for the Enduro. Not many registered for the Time Trial. I'm sure there are more to come but I also expect numbers to be down since the PCA and POC seem to have parted ways and POC is running their own event at Ca Speedway later in May. It is a very fun event at a major track that is very close for SoCal folks. Pits are roomy and the viewing is great.

BTW Festival of Speed is nothing of the magnitude of Goodwood as it is mainly a large PCA event with amature racers with possibly a few pros mixed in.
