I live in California and bought a ROW 1986 Cabriolet about 7 years ago from the original owner living in Texas. On the importation document it shows the date it was brought in to the USA and the port that it entered. In my case it came in November of 1985 through the port of Houston. These facts backed up his story of picking it up in Europe and driving it around for a month over there. These import facts will be on the DOT documentation which you should look at first to back up any stories of when and where. I still had to take it to one of a couple of California registered import shops to have it gone over before being registered. It was about $3500 back then but as I look back now money well spent. The car had less than 50,000 miles and the federlized work was done correctly in Texas when brought in. As observed before there is something special about how the 1986's run and with the Euro spec's they are just a bit more nimble than most 3.2s. Curt
