Default Replacement of rear sway bar mount...

Tomorrow I'm cutting and grinding off my torn sway bar mounts. This will be done on a friend's chassis lift.

I thought I would make a template that locates the angle and placement of the old mounts before removing them in order to get the correct positioning for the new mounts. The template's position will be scribed on the chassis.

The new mounts will be welded in the following weekend.

No luck with the search button for documentation of this process.

I'm seeking tips and guidance from anyone that has done this themselves.

Thanks.

I think we just went over this, but you bring up a good point. The mount is round on the bottom and conforms to the frame rail. It can only go into one place. Yes, there is a little wiggle room, but not much. If you have it all bolted togeather you really can't go wrong.

one more thing. Reach under the drivers seat and unplug the DME control unit as well as the battery cables when doing any welding on the chassis.

Thanks whalebird - we're welding on the new mounts tomorrow. I'll be sure to disconnect.

It only took 45 minutes to cut & grind the drivers side mount, but nearly 3 hours for the passenger side that had been, to put it mildly, heavily "repaired" in the past.
