Post 930 seat in 911SC?

Will the front buckets from a 930 fit in my '79 911 with little or no modification?

Also, what might be a fair price for such seats in serviceable condition (minor cracking but no rips)?...

Add'l info- The 930 seats are electric. Can electric seats be retrofit into a '79 w/ manual seats?

Yeah should fit no-probs, I'm running '93 964 electric seats in my '83 SC.
Bolted straight in, simple bit of wiring.
Before that i had 3.0 930 sports seats (non electric) in there.
In theory all 911, 930, 964 and 993 seats are interchangable 'cos they shared the same mounting bolt spacing.
Hope this helps. Regards Jon

Thanks Jon. Does $500 sound reasonable for these seats if in OK condition?

Cool

I'm not meaning to offend you and this is an unsolicited opinion, but -- $500 sounds low for reasonable condition which means they are probably not sport seats -- which seem to run in the $800 - $1500 range depending on condition. Personally I think the non-sport Porsche seats are some of the most uncomfortable seats available today, back breakers on a long trip. I replaced mine with some sport seats in reasonable condition and the difference is phenomenal -- night and day. If you have an opportunity to compare how the sport seats are made vs the regular seats, you will notice a huge difference. I have made long trips (8 hours in the seat) in both seats and there is a significant difference.

OK, here's a pic of the seat in question. Alan, this appears to be a sport seat, am I wrong? They will obviously need reconditioning, but it beats $1800 for a recovering job on my stock Recaro sports...

Thumbs up

I suspect they will fit fine and they certainly will clean up nicely with a little cleaner, conditioner, and Surflex. The bolsters look like Sport Seats although the configuration of the seat does not match with what I have for Sports Seats, they must have changed the design in later years to make the seat bottom as well as the seat back a single piece. The earlier sport seat had a separate insert for both the seat cushion and the back. The construction of the later seat appears to be more like the earlier standard seat.

I have included some URLs from Dave's site (MS Road and Race). You can see in the definition the description of what the seat is. It is also easier to see in the picture what I am trying to describe in words.
