Default what's this fan and do i replace it?

it's sitting in the "front trunk" on my 85 carrera, next to the battery and the window washer pump. looks like a little battery acid got to it.

it's sitting on top of a coil, is that an AC or ???

I put power to it and it doen'st come on.

If it needs replaced, go to Pelican???

Thanks a lot

Vincent

That is the blower motor for the front condenser of the AC system. Turn on the AC and see if it comes on, which it is supposed to. Sounds like you already put power to it, but does it have a good ground connection as well? It has a 2 pole connector, right above it, pretty easy to get to and test. If the motor is bad, I'm sure Pelican and the like would have it.

it is the condenser blower motor, they were not fused before 1987 or so. They will smoke and catch fire pretty easily once it seizes.
Add a fuse in there if you get a new one, I think it's a 7.5 amp.
The motor itself is cheap from other places besides pelican, it's the squirrel cage that makes it expensive
good luck

The chances that this motor is totally hosed up, burned up or locked up is pretty high. You can buy the entire assembly for $300 or so, but the motor itself is much closer to $100.
