I just used Intercity Lines to move my 911 from Raleigh to Monterey, CA. No problems at all. $1500. A bit pricey, but for fully enclosed and covered transportation it is worth it. NO damage, dirt, etc.

I recently engaged Concours Transport to move my first 911 from Georgia to Texas. They had the best price of the "recommended" enclosed haulers I called (from Brian Buxton's list at http://www.buxtonmotorsports.com/links.htm. Great service I thought.

You can do searches for some companies that have been in business for sometime. Alot of quickie.com shippers aren't good and have many complaints against them. Don't trust any BBB references ether, they are bought off and therefore worth next to nothing. I have used a few different companies and have good results after my local company moved away. Good luck/skill!

I had good results with Direct Auto Shippers (DAS) when I shipped my CS from the east coast to Calif. The ebay Motors web site has the contact into. I liked the ability ot track the car thru the internet.

I used Classic Auto Transport, Winfield, KS, 1-888-281-2840, to transport a Saab from Pennsylvania to St. Louis. They use an open transporter and the fee was $400. Had absolutely no problems. I probably wouldn't ship a collectable car this way, but I thought it was fine for a driver. They're fully insured in case of any damage.

I used Dependable Auto Shippers to ship my Targa from Houston to SF two years ago. Enclosed transport and they pick up and deliver or you can save a few $$ by dropping off and picking up at their depot.
hope this helps

I used Innercity to move from S.Cal to Arkansas. They were 100% professional and delivered my 356 exactly at the time promised. I had a new Boxster delivered by a co. recommended by the dealership ($100 less than Innercity) and it arrived with the driver's dirty handprints all over the Gray conv. top! Definately NOT professional.

Intercity gets my vote based on my 1 experience a month ago for my 993 going from Tallahassee,Florida to Aurora,Illinois.
The truck was on time 630am and super clean and driver couple were just the nicest people to - they even let me check out the Cayennes shipping along with my car.
The main reason for using transporting companies of this caliber will be that the car is covered and secured by straps or wheel cover.
Open carrier tranport companies, IMHO, use chains or other devices secured to suspension or frame which was a big no no mentioned in our cars owners manuals.

I used Passport Transport recently to ship from the West coast to the East coast and had a pretty negative experience. The car arrived fine but took significantly longer than expected. The company was very poor at communicating the status.
