Default Brake job help needed

I just took on the brakes of my widebody and need some advise. I searched the archive but am still confused by a few issues,
I checked the 4 pistons on a front one and by mistake I popped one piston all the way out. The piston and seal looks perfect. Can I just slide it back in or do I have to remove and replace the seal??
The 20 degree orientation of the pistons makes sence but nowhere does it say if the lower section goes on the top or the bottom??. The 930 piston has the slot cut right in the center. The ones in my car seem to all be at a 30 degree setting which may have cause the low speed squeal.
The back of the pads and piston tops have a dried tar type substance on them, sort of sticky but hard. Should I clean it off and recoat with some other lube??
Other than that all looks good , Im learning as I go and enjoying myself. Thanks for any help. Doug
