Default Pinched oil cooler line

Have a new to me 81 SC and one of the lines going to the trombone oil cooler is a bit pinched along the bottom of the rocker. Has anyone tried to repair it rather than replace. It's not pinched shut but the flow has to be a bit restricted. Any feedback appreciated.

I have never worked on the oil lines for a 911, but I have worked with hydraulic hoses similar in size to your oil lines. 1) The pinched line not only is restricting your flow but can also increase the heat of the oil. 2) If you were to repair the line you would probably need to remove it from the car, therefore you're probably better off just buying a new one.

There are several threads on Pelican about fixing these if they aren't too bad. I've got the same problem although mine is not fixable. Likely your biggest problem will be removing the lines from the thermostat. Ask me how I know.

They can be fixed, but you have to know what you are doing. I've never done one, but I've seen them done. You need to orient the oil line by marking it so it goes back on in the same reference or the fittings won't mate at the thermostat. The person I've seen do it, takes a copper or brass sleeve that just fits over the two cut pieces and solders them together (sleeve lenghts vary due to the length of the damaged tubing). I use the term "solder" loosely because he uses a special type of solder, I think like the heavy stuff plumbers use. If you don't know anyone who has the expertise to do it for you, I would find a good used one and put it all back together.

By very caredul work with a pair of pliers, I took a similar crimp and slowly massaged mine to a square section, which flows plenty of oil.
