911SC - What are these buttons?
Greetings to all 911 members. I have recently acquired a sweet '80 911SC - I guess I should now rename myself 80911 instead.
I am gradually exploring this lovely little car and discovering it's delights. These two buttons on the dash have me perplxed - one is labled ENG, the other RES. It may seem obvious as to their purpose there is no reaction when I press either. No James Bond-like smoke clouds or ejector seats so far.
Within the collective wisdom there resides an answer - can anyone help?
Cheers

None of the buttons in your picture appear to be standard..not even the light switch if that's what it is.
Looks like you'll need to get under the dash and trace the wire to the where they go!
Sorry

To add a bit of clarify/confusion, the SC was built on Feb 6, '80 Petrol Blue, Sports Seats, A/C, Impact bumpers, Tinted Glass, 4 Speaker stereo, Sport Shocks, 16" Alloy Wheels & delivered into the UK now residing in Australia. The light switch is for the fog lights. There can been much creative wiring added since then.

+1 for cruise control... those were the days of electronic aftermarket units...
My '77 has factory cruise control, but that one looks like it may be an aftermarket electronic kit a dealer installed.

Cruise control was available in the SC as far back as 1978,--I had it on my 77 S. Note that even the turn indicator stalk isn't standard. There's been a lot of custom wiring done to that car. It's most likely someone adding cruise control later as the ENG is for "Engage" and RES is for "Resume."

That's a nice one Dave. I wish I knew how to use photoshop. I once tried to give my white P-Car zebra stripes, I couldn't figure it out so I gave up quickly. It's probably one of the only pieces of software I have never gotten around to learning.

I took a picture of a 997 turbo with zebra stripes last summer in Laguna Beach, Ca. If I can find it I will post it.
