Default It' here!

After a few weeks of waiting, the new to me 1980 911SC has finally arrived. It started when I began searching for my old '79, and the owner of this car emailed me to say he was selling it.

It's a sunroof oupe, Light Blue Metallic, Tan full leather, 63000 original miles, and it came with all the records back to Day One. I had almost as much fun reading through the documents as I did on the initial drive.

Speaking of which, it goes down the road almost like a new car. No squeaks, ratlles, or other nasty habits. The gearchange is right on. I was reminded how much this is a throwback machine, a real car that needs to be driven but so rewarding. Also if I can say, so, a romantic driving experience.

Huge kudos to Billy and Ray at European Performance in Novato, California for all the care and effort they put into this car. I chose them for the PPI, and they gave me such warm and fuzzies in dealing with them from 3000 miles away that I gave them the green light to go through the entire car. They replaced head studs, clutch, lowered it, did a service, and a million little things along the way because they really care. If you are in Central California you should try them. They're that good.

I am going to do some cleaning and detailing and will post pics by the weekend.

Can't wait to see it! I rememebr when you first posted that you were looking, so am glad to hear that you found what you wanted.

Please take lots of pics. I miss my old SC and would love to see such a fine example with low miles.

Beatiful! I can even SMELL those sheeps skins from here! (though that's not necessarily a good thing)

Ah yes, same color as my old SC - Hellblau (light blue metallic) - great color, especially in the sunshine.

Beautiful, congrats!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am on the fence about the sheeps. I was going to take em off but I actually like them a bit. And hey, they are a "period correct" accessory.

Actually I feel a little guilty moving this nice car from California to Pennsylvania. I will have to move to Sonoma someday so I can bring it back home.

The sheep skin looks cozy for this time of the year in the Keystone state.

You shouldn't feel guilty... Treat it well, and I'm sure it won't mind being back east.
