When Im driving along slow (5-20 mph), I hear a slight rubbing sound coming from the front end. Does it when I coast as well. Sounds almost like a tire rubbing but I know thats not the case. Its noticeable but no grinding or harsh metal sounds. Seems to have just started. Seems to go away at higher speeds but that just could be the noise of the car drowning it out... any ideas? I dont see anything obvious around the tires... its an 83 SC.

Very gently, while maintaining a steady speed with your right foot on the gas, use your left foot to apply pressure to the brake pedal. If your noise goes away you have a need to (1) replace your brake hoses, or (2) a need to do #1 + reseal your brake calipers. Try it and let us know what you find...

well i took the SC out... and I couldnt get it to reproduce the noise. it all seemed fine. maybe it was the after effects of driving in the rain... or maybe it was my imagination. I checked my tires and they were all low (25 pounds).. so maybe it was related to that...

I had a similar noise, mainly while making a small turn.
Noise went away and then came back a few weeks later.
Turned out that one of the caliper piston boots was dried out and cracked causing it to stick,
Pull the pads and see if the seals are still pliable.

Brad: Your experience is common, when calipers start to get sticky the pads can be intermittently noisy. Same for hoses that are old, under certain conditions they can hold pressure in the caliper, which can cause the pads to lightly drag. The noise will return, "when" is the unknown!
