Default Early Heat Exchangers Installed

Ok I just installed early set of HE on my 80SC with the orinal factory muffler from my 73E that I still had laying around feels a little better then stock have to tune it up idle seems to be surging a little, I did not install the oxy sensor I'M thinking that maybe I should install it, but from some of the treads I read, it seems some of you are running with it some without it, so I will get the co set and go from there, I just dont think that the oxy sensor just reading of one bank of cylinders would make a difference, also what do you guy's think of the original muffler from the 73E it was a mechanical injected car now its on a CIS car.

The issue is that the 2 HE dont Y together, they are only together into the muffler at that point the oxy sensor is'nt really giving you reading, that you want any way. my thought is to set the co ( any advise to spec would be appreciated) and see how she runs, from what I have read, you would always set the co before the cat reading, so I would think that no oxy sensor should be fine ?.

Ernie,

Your SC will run much better without the oxysensor. Run the car open-loop and have someone adjust the CO (with a 3mm allen) to 2.5% at idle.

Hi Ernie (emac):

Yessir,........indeed it does.

The SC's with Lambda controllers was not their finest moment in terms of drivability and performance. I've found that these cars did better with the oxysensor disconnected and the CO adjusted manually, just like the earlier SC's.

Ok had the vehicle at a local P-shop today and had the co,timing and idle adjusted, and sure enough the car feels pretty good, I guess the early style HE do make a difference.
