Here's an update. My current flight lands at LAX at 11:50 am and I have to be at my hotel at 1:30 pm. If I took a taxi straight to the Mexican restaurant on the Santa Monica Pier, I might be able to grab a quick lunch with you guys. There are two earlier flights with one seat each available, but I can't make my company pay for the difference in fares. Since I have high status with Delta, I can do same day confirm for free if there is still a seat available on one of those flights on Monday. For planning purposes, I think you guys should get together and listen to Oshin's 911 tick. If I get in early, I can spend from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm with the group. If I don't, I'll still try to stop by the restaurant and meet everyone.

Oshin is four hours north. If nothing else I could be your taxi. Are you right back to the airport after the sales mtg. or are you staying at the hotel? We gotta do something since you're gonna be here.

I really dobt you will make it from LAX to Santa Monica in an hour and a half unless you are in a Porsche. You will definatly not have time for the pier too.

Doug, I'm hoping that I can same day confirm on one of the earlier flights, which would give me plenty of time. I don't remember it being too far from LAX, but I don't pay that much attention in taxi cabs, generally. They have been really slow to get the detailed agenda out ... hopefully tomorrow. If we're lucky, Pete will dodge the flu. Best, Kevin

I'm still hopeful that I can't catch an earlier flight and hit LAX around 10:30am instead of an hour later. We'll see. I hope some other Renlisters can join, if only to keep Doug company if I can't make it .

kevin, (I still think your name is matt for some reason)

If it is a sunny day on monday I'll pick you up from LAX and run you up to Santa Monica no matter what time you get in. You can tell me what you think of my car....and you can tell me what you think of the MaxHP chip.

Sure you can. Use Lincoln & cut over on Venice or similar to the coastal. Skip the 5.

Well, the anti-flu stuff seems to be working (knock on wood!), but I have a semi-serious offer for my car, and the drive/inspect is scheduled for Monday. Sorry about missing lunch...

Ian: Believe it or not, there is so much surface street traffic in L.A., it's just as quick to take the 405 to the 10 to Lincoln Blvd (or 4th/5th streets - which dumps you only a few blocks from the pier) in S.M. these days!

I will admit, I haven't driven much in LA in 5 years. Only a quick trip last month LAX to Long Beach & back with a night in Marina del Rey. I used to hit customers all over greater LA & the valley & I knew my way around. Lincoln & Sepulveda were faves for staying away from 405. I visited some stores in some strange places.

At this point we have two options.

1. LUCKe27 gets in early and I'm his taxi to Santa Monica and we have lunch on the pier

2. LUCKe27 gets in on time and he is on his own and we get togeather at the pier.

Should be a fun time no matter.
